Manti Te’o Story Still Leaves Plenty of Questions

Chaos. If there is one word to describe the college football season, that is probably the word. From the bickering about the BCS to the upsets on college campuses on Saturday afternoon, the college football season is never boring.

Turns out neither is the off season.

Since the clock hit 0:00 in Miami Gardens,FL, and even before then the storylines have never disappeared. Coaches have interviewed for other positions, only to return to their school, then leave while others decided to stay home. Yes, it is the coaching carousel, followed by signing day that helps college football fans through the offseason, but this year was different.

Nearly 10 days after the BCS National Championship game, Deadspin.com reported in no uncertain terms, the girlfriend of Notre Dame Linebacker Manti Te’o, a focal point in articles and television features because of a death to leukemia hours after the death of Te’o's grandmother, did not exist.

In the days since the news broke, later confirmed by Notre Dame and Te’o countless questions have arisen, starting with why. Why did Te’o embellish the story for so long? Why were so many misled? and Why did those reporting this heart-wrenching tale not know the subject in which they were reporting on, had in fact never existed?

Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News joined The Game Tuesday night to share his feelings, on the Te’o situation from all angles.
