As Nick Saban finalized his 2013 signing class there stood 25 prospects from 13 different states as players from across the country pledged their commitment to play for the Crimson Tide. It was a reach college football fans took notice of-one that showed that regardless of location, Alabama could hand pick the cream of the crop.

On Monday that reach became a little bit wider.

Monday afternoon a class of 2013 punter by the name of Adrian Lamothe announced via his twitter account he was leaving his home in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to accept an invitation as a preferred walk on at the University of Alabama.

Lamothe spent last season at Monterrey Tech, but made a name for himself on the camp circuit, attending the Texas 2012 Nike Summer Camp where he posted a punt with a hang-time of 5.03 seconds. In the video posted below, Lamothe can be seen consistently punting the ball over 50 yards with an average hang-time in the 4.6-4.7 second range.

“He has a huge leg and has proven time and time again that he is one of the most consistent punters in the nation” kicking instructor Chris Sailer said about Lamothe. “(He) has shown that he can hit 5 plus second hang time punts, also punts very well under pressure”

Previously the city of Monterrey has produced NFL offensive lineman Ramiro Pruneda (Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers) and Rolando Cantu (Arizona Cardinals)
